Privacy Policy
Rooh Raah is built on the principle that people share more honestly when they feel safe. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we do with it, and what we do not do.
Who we are
Rooh Raah is an AI relationship coaching product for South Asians navigating rishta culture, modern dating, and family pressure. The coaches are AI, not humans. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@roobraah.com.
What we collect and why
Anonymous users (free tier)
If you use Rooh Raah without creating an account, we store:
- A random session ID generated on your device. This is a string of letters and numbers with no connection to your real identity.
- The name you chose to share during onboarding. This does not need to be your real name.
- Your onboarding answers — background, generation, family style, location, and situation. These are categorical choices from a list, not free text.
- AI-generated coaching notes summarising your conversations. We store summaries, not verbatim transcripts.
This data is stored on your device (in your browser's local storage) and in our database, keyed to your random session ID. If you clear your browser storage, the link between you and your data is broken. The data remains in our database but cannot be connected to any identifiable person.
Authenticated users (Core and Deep tiers)
If you create an account, we additionally store your email address. Your email is used only for sign-in and account management. It is stored separately from your coaching data — your conversation history, coaching notes, and onboarding answers are keyed to a random user ID, not to your email address. This separation is architectural, not just a policy claim.
What we do not collect
- We do not store verbatim conversation transcripts.
- We do not collect your real name unless you choose to share it.
- We do not collect payment information directly. Payments are handled by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy.
- We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.
Third parties we use
- Anthropic — the AI provider that powers the coaches. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.
- Supabase — our database provider. Your session data and coaching notes are stored in Supabase. Data is stored in the UK (London region).
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel processes requests to our servers.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid tiers. We never see or store your card details.
Your rights
If you are based in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR and GDPR including the right to access your data, correct it, and request that it be deleted.
To request deletion of your data, email us at privacy@roobraah.com with the subject line "Data deletion request". For anonymous users, include your session ID if you have it (found in your browser's local storage under the key rooh_session_id). For authenticated users, include the email address associated with your account. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Data retention
We retain coaching data for as long as your account is active. For anonymous users, data persists in our database indefinitely but cannot be linked to an identifiable person once browser storage is cleared. We will introduce automated retention limits in a future update.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of Rooh Raah after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
